A quick thank you to the readers and posters!

Just a quick post, because I have suddenly become somewhat computer illiterate and am unable to find a way to post replys to the comments that lovely people have been leaving!

A HUGE thank you for anyone taking the time to read this blog, and for those also taking the time to leave comments. It is greatly appreciated :D

Having this blog is a great way for me to vent about the customers I deal with every day, and I am very happy that I've found a way to share these experiences with other people!

Because, let's face it - pretty much all of us have had to deal with people like this before, so lets share the pain LOL ;)

THANK YOU EVERYONE !! :D
Oh. my. GOD.

I get this EVERY SINGLE DAY. Over and over. And it drives me batsh*t crazy. I have no idea why people do it.

Me - "Ok, so to bring up your policy, may I please get your name, date of birth, and address?"

Stupid Customer - "Yep. So my husband's name is George Brown, his date of birth is 14/05/1963, and he lives at 10 Smith Street, X Town"

Me - "........okay.....thanks for that......and now could I please get YOUR name, date of birth and address?"

Stupid Customer - "MY details?"

Me - "Yes ma'am. To view YOUR policy I need to confirm YOUR details"

Stupid Customer - "Oh. Ok then."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Me - "Ok sir, now to bring up your policy, may I please get your name, date of birth and address"

Stupid Customer - "Ummmm....ok, ok so.... Sarah Miller, 10/01/1993, Green St Maryville"

Me - "......um...okay...so just to confirm, were you calling about your own policy sir?"

Stupid Customer - "Yeah, why"

Me - "Oh okay, it's just that you just gave me details of a young girl but I have you identified as an older male, so I'm just not sure what I'm meant to be, um, looking for?"

Stupid Customer - "Sarah's my daughter"

Me - "Okay...."

Stupid Customer - "............."

Me - "Okay, well I would need to get YOUR own details to being up your policy sir..."

Stupid Customer - "Oh, okay then"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seriously, just WTF
I get this exact things SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. EVERY DAY.
If I ask you dierctly for YOUR details, what the cr*p would you give me the details of some random person who, might I add, is also usually someone not even on the policy????
WHY people, WHY
Me - "Welcome to Health Insurance Inc, how may I help you?"

Stupid Customer - "Yeah hi, so I got a letter from you guys saying you didn't pay my claim for rubber sandels?"

Me - "That's right sir, rubber sandels are not covered by health insurance"

Stupid Customer - "So why didn't you pay it?"

Me - "Because...it is not covered by health insurance."

Stupid Customer - "WHY?"

Me - "Because health insurance pays towards services and items relating to a person's health. Rubber sandels do not fall within that category"

Stupid Customer - "Yes they do! If I don't wear them then I get blisters!"

Me - "I'm sorry to hear that sir. The item is not covered"

Stupid Customer - "Well other health funds pay on them, how come you don't too?"

[NOTE - I know for a FACT no other health fund pays on rubber sandels, so I know he is lying. So why not have some fun here..]

Me - "Oh, really? Oh wow, that is suprising!"

Stupid Customer - "Yeah! so how come you don't pay and they do, huh? I feel like I'm getting poor service form you guys and shuld change to one of those funds where they actually pay for my claims!"

Me - "Hmmm, I'm not quite sure sir, but I would sure love to know as well! I'm so glad you let me know, mayeb I should consider changing to one of these funds, they sound do much better since they pay on things that, as far as I knew, were unclaimable items! Which funds were they, I might give them a call myself and enquire about joining :) "

Stupid Customer - "Ummm...well I don't...um, don't have them on me right now..."

Me - "Oh ok. Well, if you get a hold of those funds name, I do recommend you call them and enquire about joining like you said because that is most unusual that a fund would be on services like that, so if you've managed to track a few days, definetely, I say go for it! And feel free to call me back as well to share the names because those funds sound amazing!"

Stupid Customer - "Ummm...yeah...yeah ok....ummm"

Me - "Alrighty, well, thank for calling in today sir, you have a great day now :)"

Hehe.
Nowadays when people like that call in and start with the threats of 'I will cancel and go to another fund unless you meet my entierly impossible and unreasonable demand!', I just go with it and have fun.
Never had a single one actually go ahead and cancel.
Seems they realise reaaaal quick they just got called out on acting like a total d*ck LOL :)

NOTE - I have a very female voice. I sound like a girl. Can't help it. It's just the way my voice is.
I'm a female BTW

These details are pertinant to the below...
For the sake of this conversation, so there is an actual name to place, lets say my name is Riley :)

Me - "Welcome to Health Insurance Inc, Riley speaking, how may I help you?"

Stupid Customer - "Oh hi Riley! Just got your voice message so calling you back"

Me - "Oh, it must have been someone else here Ma'am, I haven't called anyone recently, but I can check your file to see who called you and transfer you right through :)"

Stupid Customer - *suddenly angry* "UM, yes you DID call me Riley! I just TOLD you that I got your voice message!"

Me - "I'm really sorry ma'am but it wasn't me that called you. It's fine though, I can just check to see who it was that actually called you and transfer you right through"

Stupid Customer - "NO, I TOLD you!!! I got a voice message from a guy named Riley!"

Me - "Um....I'm not a guy. Clearly"

Stupid Customer - "You are if I say you are!"

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight
And you're a dumba*s if I say you are
Ok so this girl was not a customer as such...but she called in on the customer line, so I'm naming her that...but read the below and you will get what I mean ;)

Me - "Welcome to Health Insurance Inc, how may I help you?"

Stupid Customer - "Yeah, put me through to Kelly Adams"

NOTE - Kelly Adams is a HR person, name changed of course :)

Me - "Sure, I'll see if I can get you through. May I ask who was calling please?"

Stupid Customer - *SIGH* "Just put me through!"

Me - O___O "Ah, ok, I'm really sorry but she won't take a call unless she knows who is calling. May I please confirm even just your first name?"

Stupid Customer - "No, no you may not. You're wasting my time. You just tell her that I called to check when my follow up interview is. She'll know who I am, I had an interview with her last week for a position there. And make sure you do it now, I want a call back soon, I don't like waiting around. Got it?"

*CLICK*

Yeah.
I passed her message through.
She no longer has a follow up interview.
What a dumba*s
I should really just wait until I've gone through all my morning emails before I post anything, and just do one big jumbo post...

The very next email reads:

"Hey Miss Health Insurance,
Can you please have a look at policy # 499102934 - this lady called in last night and was pretty angry. If you view her latest pharmacy claim, you can see that we had made an exception on that item and approved to pay her $246, rather than the standard $40 that she was entitled to. The cost of the item was $250. So, rather than having a gap of $210, one of the managers helped her out and now she has a gap of just $4. She is furious about this. She was yelling that she should not have to pay anything at all, and if we don't pay the extra $4 then she is going to cancel her policy, and tell everyone she knows that is with us to cancel as well, as we rip our customers off, apparently. I already spoke to Anthony [name changed of course, but one of the managers] - he said she was extremely lucky to be given the extra amount to start with since we don't really do that for anyone, so he wants you to call her and tell her the choice is hers but she can take the $246 or nothing at all.

Thanks Miss Health Insurance!"

So, I just called her. The conversation went as follows. Oh how I love being screamed at first thing in the morning *rolls eyes*

Me - "Hi there, this was Miss Health Insurance calling from Health Insurance Inc, returning a call for Ms Susan Berry?"

Stupid Customer - "Yes! Now look here, I was told last night I'm only getting back $246 on my pharmacy claim, that's obviosuly a mistake, so I assume you're calling to confirm that's been rectified and I will ahve $250 in my account today?"

Me - "Actually ma'am, I was calling to explain that on this item, you were entitled to receive a set rebate of $40. A manager here made an exception and increased that for $246, as a goodwill gesture. I had been calling to advise that you had already been given well above what you were entitled to and, as such, would be receiving just the $246 mentioned"

Stupid Customer - *snotty tone* "WELL. Did the person from last inform you that should you refuse to pay me everything I am entitled to, I will be cancelling my policy? And letting all of my friends now what you have done?"

Me - "Well, they did advise me that you may cancel your policy, should you not receive the extra $4. But again I must stress, in mentioning what you are 'entitled to' - that amount is $40. We have paid you well above that, so you have received alot more than you are entitled to"

Stupid Customer - "No. I will get the extra $4, or I will cancel my policy"

Me - "Okay ma'am. That's unfortunate to hear, but it's your choice. You will find our cancellation forms on our website, please ensure you date and sign the form to ensure it is processed promprtly form you"

Stupid Customer - "Um....so, like, what, you don't care about keeping your loyal customers?"

Me - "Of course we want to retain our customers ma'am. We can't, however, pay our customer's whatever they demand just because they threaten to cancel their membership. That is not fair on other customers, and would run the business inot the ground pretty quickly"

Stupid Customer - "But it's just $4!"

Me - "Well...exactly"

Stupid Customer - "Soooo...ummm..."

Me - "So, as mentioned, we are already payign you well above what you are entitled to. If you choose not to take this and wish to cancel instead, you will find our cancellation forms on the website"

Stupid Customer - "So you're going to lose a customer over $4?"

Me - "From our perspective, the amount is not the point. The maximum the fund could approve as a goodwill payment was $246. That would have been the same whether this item cost $250, or $650. If we were somehow able to approve the extra $4, then that would open the floodgates, and we would need to pay extra on all of our member's claims. From your perspective though, ma'am, you would be choosing to lose your insurance over $4. And I must say that you are on a very good level of cover, for a very decent price. You have claimed alot over the years. In all honesty, the detriment would not be toward us ma'am...."

Stupid Customer - "Well. This is a joke. I can't believe you're going to lose a customer over $4. You should just pay what I tell you to and then you would have the priviledge of keeping me!"

*CLICK*

I bet you ANYTHING she doesn't cancel.
And hey, you know what - we don't actually WANT customers like that. Ones that threaten and blackmail, and have no regard for other customers
Oh for the love of...
The first email I have come into this morning reads:

"Hi Miss Health Insurance
Could you please call Roger Brown, policy # 922018382, back this morning URGENTLY. He is going in for surgery today and the hospital told him yesterday that they contacted us, and we said we weren't going to cover it. He hasn't paid his policy in just under 6 months. He said if we don't call him back URGENTLY this morning and get it fixed for him, he is going to sue us. He says he is extremely unhappy with our service and he wants to take this to the media."

Thanks"

So...HE hasn't bothered to pay for his policy in almost HALF A YEAR...then suddenly needs surgery...but that is our fault
Right. Of course it is.
Oh how I LOL at you...
Good luck taking that to the media, d*ckhead!
This one was a sighting from this morning...
I went to the supermarket to pick up some bits and pieces for lunch today. I'm in the express lane checkout. There's a young girl serving, she looks to be maybe about 15? She has a 'trainee' pin on. There is a couple infront of me that she is serving. The girl, I must admit, was pretty smokin'. Looked like a model.
Model girl, in this scenario, was the stupid customer.

Lovely Checkout Chick [to model girl, the stupid customer] - "Hi, how are you this morning?"

Stupid Customer - *GLARE*

Lovely Checkout Chick - *looks taken back, but keeps on scanning the items, and at a very nice pace, she is doing a perfect job*

Stupid Customer - *suddenly shrieking* "Um, EXCUSE ME, but could you go any slower? Like, smoe of us have, like, REAL jobs to get to, you know?"

Lovely Checkout Chick - *again looks taken back, and now a tad upset* "I'm sorry, I'll try and speed things up for you ma'am"

*She does go faster, still doing everything perfectly*

Stupid Customer - "Hello, HELLO! Supermarket girl! HELLO! Are you stupid?! You're messing up my bread! Look at it! You just crushed it to bit!"

*Lovely Checkout Chick has scanned the bread and placed it gently into the bag - not even so much as a crease in the packaging*

Lovely Checkout Chick - "I'm sorry ma'am, I didn't realise. Would you like me to call ovr for another loaf for you?"

Stupid Customer - "NO, god you're stupid! I already TOLD you, some of us have REAL jobs to get to! I don't have time for this! If you had of done your job right the first time then this wouldn't have even happened I mean, like, GOD, how hard can it be to put things in a bag, huh? It's not even a real job!"

Lovely Checkout Chick - *continues scanning and packing, but now has visible tears in her eyes*

*At pretty much the same time...*
Me and women behind me - "She's doing a great job, there's really no reason to..."

*interrupting us*

Stupid Customer - *looks us up and down* "Um, HELLO, was I talking to you? Like, who do you think you are? You're both beneath me you know. [To the mortified looking boyfriend] Babe, can you believe these locals think they can just, like, talk to me? Losers"

*her eyes suddenly dart back to Lovely Checkout Chick, who just gently place 2 pears in the bag with 2 apples*

Stupid Customer - "OH MY GOD! What is WRONG with you! Can you, like, NOT do that?!"

Lovely Checkout Chick - "I'm...um...really sorry [voice trembling now]...I don't...um...know what I did wrong ma'am?"

Stupid Customer - "Oh my GOD. You DON'T put vegetables in the same bag as fruit! That, like, contaminates everything! [To boyfriend] Babe, look, she's trying to give me food poisoning!"

Lovely Checkout Chick - "I only put the pears and apples together, I didn't see any vegetables come through..."

*interrupting her*

Stupid Customer - "You're stupid! Apples ARE vegetables, GOD you're so stupid!"

*We are glance at each other, smirking"

Lovely Checkout Chick - "Um...apples are fruit ma'am"

Stupid Customer - "You're DUMB!"

Then she literally THREW a bunch of coins on the GROUND, grabbed her bag, and walked out.
Thankfully Lovely Checkout Chick was now smiling - not only because of how stupid that model girl just proved herself to be, but also because she threw too many coins - she overpaid hahahah

What a rude, stuck-up b*tch though
She must seriously live a sad, insecure life if she feels the need to speak like that to other people

Tuesday, 4 October 2011

A male customer just called in, and the conversation went as follows...

Me - "Welcome to Health Insurance Inc, how may I help you?"

Stupid Customer - "Get me a man"

Me - "I'm sorry sir?"

Stupid Customer - "I said, get me a man! God, you women are useless aren't ya..."

Me - "OH, ok, you're requesting to speak with a male...may I ask why sir, only because if I look around for a male operator, they will ask me why I'm doing that when I shoudl be capable of answering most enquiries you may have?"

Stupid Customer - "I've got a question about my policy, you;re a female so you obviously won't be able to help me. So do as you're told and go get me a man"

Me - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm required to at least attempt to assist our customers. If I'm not able to assist you though I'll be happy to transfe ryou to another operator, but I must advise that it would be to the next available operator, and I cannot guarantee that will be a male. We don't segregate our staff based on sex"

Stupid Customer - "Well I do! You women are useless and good for nothing! I don't even know how you're allowed to work, yuo're incapable!"

Me - "Okay. And what was your enquiry today?"

Stupid Customer - "I need to know the phone number for you people, so you better go get a bloke to help you love because I know you're going to struggle with that one!"

Me - "Uh...the phone number for our company?"

Stupid Customer - "See! Useless!"

Me - "No....I only hesitated because I wanted to be sure of what you had asked... because the number for our company is the number you just called?"

Stupid Customer - "Fu*king b*tch!"

*CLICK*

Yeah. Many lols over that asshat hehe
NOTE - Managers will only take a direct call if they have to have arranged for the customer to speak to them beforehand. They don't take blind transfers, ans the reason is because the only reason a customer shoudl be speaking to a manager here is in relation to a complaint that is really bad. As such, the managers prefer to be fully aware of the situation and prepared before speaking to the customer. These situatiosn always require thorough investigation by the manager before they can speak to a customer

Me - "Welcome to Health Insurance Inc, how may I help you?"

Stupid Customer - "Hi, can you put me through to Maria* please?"

[Maria* is a manager, name changed of course :) ]

Me - "Sure, I'll see if she is available. And was this a personal call or were you returning a message, with something related to a policy you have with us?"

Stupid Customer - "Personal call"

Me - "Sure no problems. May I take your name and I will see if she is in the office?"

Stupid Customer - "Yep, my name's Dave. It's a personal call."

Me - "No problems Dave, just one moment thanks"

*I go find Maria. She knows no-one offhand named Dave*

Me - "Hi there Dave. Just need to check - were you a relative, or a friend?"

Stupid Customer - "It's a personal call"

Me - "Sure, that's fine. I just need to confirm how you know Maria as she's having a bit of trouble placing you"

Stupid Customer - "I got a problem with my policy and Maria's sorting it out for me"

Me - *eye roll* - "Right, so not a personal call but one relating to a policy you have with us then. So Maria asked you to call back today and ask for her?"

Stupid Customer - "Yep. She's expecting my call. She's sorting out a problem on my policy for me"

Me - "Ok. Since she couldn't place your name, could I please get your membership number and I will pass that to her and ask her to take the call for you"

*he gives me the membership number. I can see he has an issue where we didn't pay on a claim because he is not covered for that service. There are no notes, however, from Maria. I give her the membership number anyway. She has never been given this policy to action, and has never heard of the guy*

Me - "Hi Dave. I've just spoken to Maria again, and I'm sorry but she's advised me that she has never spoken with you before?"

Stupid Customer - "The girl I spoke to before said that Maria was going to handle my complaint!"

Me - "Ok sir, give me one moment and I will check for you"

*I go and speak to the last operator he spoke to. She had told him that he could not claim for a service because he was not covered for it. He got abusive and asked for her manager's name. She said my manager's name is Maria, she does not take direct calls though. Then he hung up on her*

Me - Hi again Dave. Ok, I just spoke to the last operator...

*interupting me*

Stupid Customer - "Nonononono why'd you speak to her? I asked to speak to MARIA!"

Me - "Sir, we would have been happy to refer your matter thruogh to Maria, however the fund does not appreicate being lied to. You are welcome to submit a written request asking that she look into your policy, however she will not speak to you today. To possibly save some time though, I will advise speaking to a manager will not change the fact that you cannot claim on a service for which you are not covered. if you want to be able to claim on a service, you need to pay to be covered for that service"

Stupid Customer - *CLICK*
